NTHS 2018

Presenting: Lina Barsøe Christensen

Have you participated in NTHS?

Yes, I participated in NTHS70 in Norway 2017.

What is your best memory from NTHS?

My best memory of NTHS is from the Banquet last year. It was a really fun evening and night and the perfect end to a perfect congress. I was chatting with another participant about what we had seen during the week. We were both struck by the optimism and amounth of new ideas in the company, many of which we had not really heard of before. It is my favourite memory because to me it is a moment where everything of NTHS came togheter: Maritime industry, new impressions, traditions, fun and new friends.

If NTHS had an unlimited funds, what would the 71st NTHS be like?

If we had unlimited funds NTHS71 would be all about the company visits and activities and not worrying about the hassle of driving extra to get the absolute cheapest accomodation. Unlimited funds would also mean that we could have a great banquet and not have to limit the amount of tickets available to old-timers.

What do you hope the participants will remember about NTHS in Denmark

I hope they will remember a number of things. In genereal I hope that they will leave with a greater knowledge about the Danish maritime industry and the possibilities it poses for jobs both in production and service of ships and offshore installations.

As part as the organizing committee I hope that they will look back and think of NTHS71 as a well planned congress, with time for both social and academic activities.

I also really hope that the participating companies will look back at our visit as a good experience, and that we have shown that working with the other Nordic companies can bring a lot of different perspectives and possible synergies.

Why do you want to become a marine engineer?

The maritime industry is so diverse and every task requires the involvement of a number of different people, so I cannot imagine ever getting boared. In addition to that the globalised world fascinates me, and the possibility to work with the vessels carrying goods around the globe caught my interest the moment I heard of it. I want to work towards more energy efficient shipping and I am really intrigued by the challenges in this topic.
