NTHS 2017 Norway

Presenting: Johanne Vartdal

How many times have you attended NTHS?

In 2015, I was lucky enough to participate in the congress in Finland, so this will be my second!

What is your favorite memory from NTHS?

Last time was incredible, but also very tiring! It is hard to point out one amazing thing, so I’d rather just say that my favourite NTHS-memory must be all the good times we all had together as a group, and how nice it was to get to know the delegations from the other Nordic countries.

Why will the Norwegian NTHS be the greatest of all times?

It will be the best because it’s actually just a week long birthday party for NTHS, and everybody loves birthdays! In addition, I believe that this year’s congress will include industry aspects that might be new to some of the participants, as the Norwegian maritime industry has been forced to change because of the new oil price. We will see how crisis can change an industry into something better because of innovation and technology.

If NTHS had an unlimited amount of money, what would the 70th NTHS be like?

We would have rented a cruise ship, and sailed along the coast of Norway. Company presentations would have been held in the spa, and we’d end every night watching the Aurora Borealis while drinking champagne in the outdoor jacuzzi.

Why do you want to become a marine engineer?

Because I love to solve problems! In addition, since I am into technology, natural science and shipping, studying for naval architecture was an easy choice.
